Meeting and reception space at Farringdon’s iconic Herbal House - the Daily Mirrors former printworks and anchor of London’s creative Golden Triangle - has undergone a striking makeover as its owner seeks to reflect the needs of modern occupiers.
Reflecting the buildings wider aesthetic and capturing the creative vibe of occupiers including Adidas, Moonpig.com, Open Society Foundation and IDEO, the new space works as a comfortable, informal lounge to grab a coffee or hold impromptu meetings, but is flexible enough to transform into a presentation or events area.
The custom bar, topped with Durat, a new form of seamless, recycled plastic, is the spaces centrepiece; a laptop bar by day or a cocktail bar by night.
The interior design aesthetic references its setting in a building that has a history steeped in print and design. It represents a strong industrial influence but features lots of texture and warmth, set against refined contemporary elements and pops of bold colour.
The space works as a comfortable, informal lounge to grab a coffee or hold impromptu meetings, but is flexible enough that it can quickly transform into an area where presentations or events can be hosted.
Designed to work in the context of the existing building and providing truly useful space for the building's occupiers, MAWD's amenities at Herbal House are a great example of Experience-Centric Design.
