Private Dining, Reimagined Above Fifth Avenue

Designed by MAWD, Boulud Privé brings a distinctive dining experience to Mandarin Oriental Residences, Fifth Avenue. Created exclusively for residents, the private dining concept by chef Daniel Boulud combines the intimacy of a private club with the service and culinary offering of Mandarin Oriental. Bespoke furnishings, sculptural stonework and carefully integrated lighting establish an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and welcoming, creating a setting for everyday dining and more intimate gatherings above the city.

Crafted Around Materiality

The interior architecture is defined by a layered palette of natural stone, textured wall coverings and warm metallic finishes. A sculptural travertine fireplace forms a focal point within the lounge, while leather-wrapped acoustic panels and bespoke detailing introduce depth and tactility. A custom chandelier responds to the double-height volume, drawing the eye upwards and reinforcing the architectural character of the space. Across the dining and lounge areas, considered lighting and tailored furnishings balance a sense of occasion with the comfort of a private residential setting.

Bespoke Details, From Wallcovering to Bar

Embossed wallcoverings bring a subtle sense of pattern to the dining room, their sculpted surfaces creating contrast against the smooth finish of travertine and the depth of leather-wrapped acoustic panels. Above, a bespoke chandelier draws attention to the double-height volume, while the interplay of light and shadow gives the material palette a changing quality throughout the day. Each element contributes to an interior that feels considered and distinctive without overwhelming the experience of dining.

The Art of the Aperitif

The bar introduces a different expression of Boulud Privé, where ribbed glass, richly veined stone and warm metallic details lend the space a more intimate character. Light traces the linear texture of the glass, drawing out the sculptural profile of the counter and the warmth of the surrounding finishes. Set against the Manhattan skyline, the bar offers a natural gathering point before dinner or a place to linger over cocktails long after the evening begins.

An Indoor-Outdoor Dining Experience

Extending beyond the interior, Boulud Privé connects to a rooftop terrace and pool overlooking the Manhattan skyline. This transition between indoor dining and open-air spaces allows the experience to shift throughout the day, from relaxed meals to evening gatherings. Together, the restaurant, lounge and terrace form an integrated residential amenity, bringing a considered hospitality experience into the everyday life of the building.
