MAWD Joins An Elite Panel of Judges for the 16th Porcelanosa Awards
A celebration of excellence, innovation, and the power of design.
It was a true honour for MAWD and Design Director Jane Maciver to be invited to participate in this year’s Porcelanosa Architecture & Design Awards, hosted at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. Welcoming over 300 guests from around the world, the event brought together some of the industry’s most forward-thinking voices to celebrate architecture that is not only beautiful, but impactful.
The evening began with a private cocktail reception in the stadium’s exclusive VIP Zone, setting the tone for a night dedicated to creativity, purpose, and excellence. Held in the prestigious Presidential Box, the awards ceremony—hosted by journalist Mercedes Martín—put a spotlight on projects defined by technical mastery, sustainable thinking, and social responsibility.
Jane Maciver was honoured to sit on the internationally acclaimed jury alongside Héctor Serrano (Héctor Serrano Studio & Borealis), Andrea Boschetti (Metrogramma), Elsa Urquijo (Elsa Urquijo Architects), and Juan Manuel Lemus (ELZ Arquitectos). Together, they had the privilege of reviewing a remarkable breadth of work across three competition categories, with additional special mentions awarded in sustainability, residential, retail, and contract design.
The evening culminated with a highlight moment: the presentation of the International Architecture Honorary Award to the esteemed Alejandro Aravena, winner of the 2016 Pritzker Prize and this year’s jury president—recognising his extraordinary contribution to architecture with purpose.
As a studio committed to shaping emotionally intelligent and human-centred environments, MAWD was proud to be part of a celebration that reinforces the essential role of design in shaping better futures.
