At Clerkenwell Design Week, MAWD joined an insightful panel hosted by OLISE Magazine at Moroso’s showroom, bringing together voices from across the design industry to unpack The Hospitality Effect.

The discussion focused on the growing influence of hospitality principles on residential environments, an evolution MAWD has been deeply engaged with through our global work reimagining how people live, relax, and connect across sectors.

MAWD was pleased to join a forward-thinking panel hosted by OLISE Magazine and expertly moderated by Vanessa Brady OBE during Clerkenwell Design Week. Represented by our Design Director, Jane Maciver, the conversation explored how the emotional resonance and service-led principles of hospitality are influencing the evolution of residential design.

Alongside leading voices in the industry, the panel discussed how luxury, innovation, and personalisation are shaping future living spaces - an area MAWD continues to redefine across global projects.

The conversation opened with a personal reflection from each panelist on what The Hospitality Effect truly means. For MAWD, it’s about designing environments that balance emotional comfort with refined functionality, spaces that resonate with the same intentionality and immersion as a luxury hospitality experience, whether in the privacy of a residence or the vibrancy of a public space. This blurring of boundaries continues to inform our approach to global living.

Designing residential spaces with the indulgence of a luxury hotel suite is about more than aesthetics - it’s about orchestrating a sense of arrival, layering amenities, and creating zones that respond intuitively to how people live.

The panel reflected on the sensory impact of natural, tactile finishes - elements often eclipsed by more polished aesthetics - and how these choices help create deeply human, resonant spaces. Jane Maciver spoke to the invisible layers of design that support a refined guest experience, where seamless functionality underpins indulgent simplicity.

The conversation evolved toward the shifting landscape of post-pandemic living, with moderator Vanessa Brady OBE inviting reflection on the increasing fluidity between personal and public space. As boundaries blur, the panelists acknowledged a new wave of bold, emotionally driven design—where global perspectives, adventurous clients, and cross-sector inspiration are fuelling exciting momentum across the industry.
