MAWD joins the global design community to celebrate International Women’s Day

To mark International Women’s Day, MAWD London Design Director Jane Maciver joined architects and designers from across the industry for an intimate dinner hosted by the LAUFEN and Roca Galleries.

Held simultaneously across multiple cities worldwide, the initiative brought together more than 230 professionals, creating a global platform to celebrate the contribution of women shaping the future of architecture and design.
In London, the evening offered a space for meaningful conversation, shared perspectives, and reflection on the evolving role of female leadership within the built environment. Events like this highlight the importance of connection and dialogue within the design community, while continuing to champion the creativity, vision, and influence of women across architecture and the wider industry.

The evening also included a presentation in celebration of Women’s History Month, coinciding with Makiko Harris’s solo exhibition Armoury: Tools of Resistance. Through a conversation between artist Makiko Harris and curator Kiera Blakey, guests explored the ideas, processes, and personal narratives that inform Harris’s bold and expansive practice. The exhibition, open through 6 March, provided a powerful cultural backdrop to an evening dedicated to recognising creativity, leadership, and the evolving role of women within the built environment.
