MAWD Explores the Poetics of Bonds with Porcelanosa During London Design Festival

The Poetics of Bonds concept explores how materials and design are capable of creating connections.
Exploring design’s role in connection
As part of this year’s London Design Festival, MAWD’s UK Design Director Jane Maciver was invited to join an industry panel exploring The Poetics of Bonds. Hosted at Porcelanosa’s Hanover Square showroom, the discussion looked at how design can create emotional and social connections in a world that often feels increasingly disconnected.

Alongside Ju-Wei Chen (Txengo), Michelle Heath (TP Bennett) and Federica Sammarco (OBMI), Jane shared MAWD’s perspective on the importance of design in creating spaces that move beyond function to deliver meaningful experiences. The panel was moderated by Eduardo SantAnna, whose expertise in art history and material culture framed the dialogue around identity, memory and belonging.

For MAWD, the themes of the conversation resonated strongly with our approach to design. We believe luxury is defined by the connections people form with the environments they inhabit—whether through cultural context, material honesty, or spaces that support well-being. Participating in this panel was an opportunity to exchange ideas with peers and reaffirm our commitment to creating interiors that are as emotionally intelligent as they are visually refined.
