Reimagining a Historic Home

For the complete refurbishment of this substantial existing home in the hills of Bel Air, Los Angeles, the client wanted to layer the warm, easy-going nature of Californian living with the traditional interior fabric of the property.

MAWD’s design incorporates contemporary elements into the traditional structure to create a juxtaposition between the old and the new.

California Dreams

The master bedroom was programmed specifically to function from morning through evening. The existing mansion weave flooring was refurbished and stained in a warm grey. Likewise, introducing a contemporary fireplace helped anchor the room and provide a central focal point.

The oversized master bathroom features a monolithic stone cube with a double overhead rain shower and touch control Dornbracht plumbing fixtures. Functionality and storage are also top of mind with built in dressing benches and concealed storage millwork vitrines dotted throughout.
